U-Del Wheelchair Racing Trainer Project Rolls On

By on 02/21/2017

Back in early December 2016, a team of students from the University of Delaware visited MossRehab to test out a portable wheelchair racer trainer. The lightweight trainer is designed to be portable, and is ultimately destined to provide a training aid for Ghana’s first paralympic wheelchair racing club, the Go Get Dem team.

Based on their testing last semester, work is continuing on the trainer this semester. Students hope to refine their design. The U-Del team is collaborating with MossRehab and a racing team from Global Abilities, sponsored by MossRehab. It’s important that the device be lightweight, but also meet safety standards and cost relatively little money.

A report on the project was recently published on the university’s Tumblr account.
