What We Know About the Omicron Variant

In the last several weeks, a new version of the virus that causes COVID-19, known as the Omicron variant, has been sweeping the United States and other countries.

Scientists still don’t know a lot about it, but Omicron has spread rapidly and displaced earlier variants, such as Delta.

We asked Eric Sachinwalla, MD, Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control for Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, a few questions about the Omicron variant and how to protect yourself and others.
